A bloody hot mess of photos from NYC's Blade Rave
Never let it be said that BBQ Films, a New York production company who create immersive parties around film screenings, do anything halfway. On Friday night at Terminal 5, their tribute to 90s cult vampire flick Blade was stuffed to the fangs with bloody treats for hardcore fans and the newly initiated alike.
Unlike most of their parties, such as those for The Fifth Element or American Psycho, Blade Rave was not centered around a sit-down screening of the film. Between projected snippets of Wesley Snipes kicking ass was everything from swordplay from Sword Class NYC, to actors hamming it up, reenacting crucial moments from the film and performances from Pictureplane and the Crystal Method. But the apex of the night came near the end when a troop of BBQFilms collaborators marched into the photo pit carrying what looked a lot like Proton Packs from Ghostbusters. They raised their wands, and as The Crystal Method played, doused the crowd with a mist of convincing fake blood. Fans reveled in a gory bliss.
