This is a very, very, very old pretzel
Two pretzels, that were unearthed from the banks of the Danube in the German city of Regensburg, could be more than 300 years old.
Carbon dated somewhere between 1700 and 1800, the pretzels were burnt which helped in their survival, and were probably discarded from a bakery that was once at the site.
On display at the History Museum in Regensburg, the pretzels are currently being held by a styrofoam frame placed on a black and white photo of a pretzel, just to drive the point home a little more.
