The tests exposing startling TSA security failures were conducted in dozens of the US's busiest airports by Homeland Security Red Teams who posed as passengers. TSA agents failed to detect the weapons in 67 out of 70 tests.

The TSA does routinely confiscate dangerous stuff. In 2014, a total of 2,212 guns were discovered in carry-on bags and 224 at the airport itself, an average of six firearms per day. The TSA confiscated 45 guns (38 of them loaded) just last week and whatever this thing is.
