WNYC, New York's public radio station, has launched the "Subway Agony Index" which uses Emoji to express the quality of train service. The official updates come directly from the MTA's Real-Time Data Feeds.

So far, the service is only available for the numbered lines since there isn't enough data available for the other lines. Now you'll know if the 4 train you're about to take is 'normal' or 'meh,' but it's not like you'll be able to do anything about it.
