The controversial 60-meter Anish Kapoor sculpture Dirty Corner, which the artist had described as a symbol of "the vagina of the queen who took power," was vandalized yesterday morning. Installed facing the Palace of Versailles in Paris, the sculpture was lightly sprayed with yellow paint, as reported by the Guardian.

Though the artist told Le Figaro that he felt the incident was "extremely sad" and a "tragedy," he also optimistically said “blind vandalism proves that the power of art can intrigue minds and move limits […]. The positive thing about this attack is that it highlights the creative force of an inanimate object." The work is currently being cleaned.
