Doppler Labs have created earbuds that let you control what real life sounds like. Not only can you turn up or down the volume of your surroundings, you can also adjust the equalizer and add effects like reverb and echo. And there's even a button called "Baby Suppress" that cancels out the sound of a crying baby.
