Star Wars trailer increased Disney's value by $2 Billion
The trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens dented the internet yesterday. And just as soon as the world went crazy over seeing Han Solo and Chewbacca back in the game, Disney became a lot more valuable: $2 billion more valuable.
The ubiquitous entertainment company bought Lucasfilm back in October 2012 for $4 billion and immediately fired up production on a new Star Wars trilogy. If the stock markets reaction is any indication it looks like that purchase is already paying off quite handsomely.
By the end of the day, Disney's stock dipped slightly from $108.30 to $108.28 but it's still a crap-ton of money to raise without even releasing a product. You can be sure the executive headquarters looked like this:
