Former 'Daily Show' correspondent Wyatt Cenac to star in TBS alien abductee pilot
Wyatt Cenac, the former Daily Show writer and correspondent who recently clashed with Jon Stewart over a racist Herman Cain impersonation, will lead the pilot of the upcoming TBS comedy, The Group. The show will be produced by The Office creator Greg Daniels and Conan O’Brien.
Cenac is set to play a skeptical journalist observing a support group of alien abductees, whose idiosyncratic antics convert his extraterrestrial agnosticism into serious curiosity. The Scully-esque reporter will perform as straight man to a host of eccentric small-town alleged abductees and their families, including an edgy clergyman, a door-to-door saleswoman, a nymphomaniac pensioner and a toll booth operating UFO-fan (played by Oscar Nunez, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mary Louise Burke and Luka Jones, respectively). Cenac's foil will presumably come in the form of the therapy group’s leader and part-time furniture saleswoman, played by Ana Gasteyer.
