VirScan is a new (and cheap) blood test that reveals every single virus a person has had in their lifetime. When you fight a virus, your body produces antibodies that neutralize it. Your body makes those specific antibodies for the rest of your life so that if the virus comes back, your immune system is better equipped to handle it. By testing for these antibodies, VirScan can detect which viruses you have had in the past - data that doctors and researchers can use to find links between viral infections and diseases like chronic fatigue syndrome. The test only costs $25 and could become routinely administered.
