Obese people tend to imagine food smells more vividly, study shows
Researchers have found that obese adults are more likely to be able to imagine the smell of popcorn, freshly baked cookies, and other odors. The ability to imagine certain smells varies greatly from person to person.
The researchers wanted to know whether being able to imagine the smell of delicious food could contribute to food cravings. "These findings highlight the need for a more individualistic approach in identifying factors that may increase risk for weight gain," said Dr. Barkha Patel, the study's lead author.
