Dad bod, deconstructed
A chart showing six different male bodies with the same BMI illustrates how misleading the Body Weight Index can be. The index, which uses a ratio of height verses weight, places the emphasis on weight, and not fat. Fat weighs less than muscle, so guys with dad bods probably weigh less than guys with beach bods of the same height.
The men in the graphic all have a BMI of 25.4, which is technically considered overweight. New York City based startup Body Labs, which creates 3-D body models that help comapanies design clothing, made the illustration. For each person the number labeled V is their body's volume.
