facts about the Kepler space telescope:

NASA's Kepler Space Telescope has found over one thousand confirmed planets and several thousand more candidates.

Kepler was able to discover a plethora of new worlds by detecting dips in stars' brightness that resulted from orbiting planets passing in front of them. This process is called the transit method.
