Oculus Rift for all, soon
After four years in prototype mode, a Oculus Rift will finally be released to the masses early next year. While the Oculus team is remaining relatively tight-lipped about the virtual reality module's details, it promises that the first iteration will come equipped a fully-integrated hardware/software tech stack and an improved tracking system for exceptional sensorial experiences.
Oculus has been slowly morphed by the hands of some of the top game designers and engineers in the world, with developer models making the rounds throughout the tech sector since its inception via Kickstarter in 2012. The company reports that the first consumer model will replicate the best features of their latest Crescent Bay prototype, which is substantially smaller, lighter, and more sonically accurate than earlier models.
Oculus promises more details in the weeks to come, with a teasing "E3 is just around the corner—this is only the beginning."
