Get your dietary needs met with this meat printer
International meat production creates 14% of greenhouse gas emissions, and consumes about a third of the world's fresh water supply. With these facts getting more attention, awareness is being spread on how to cut down meat consumption, while still attaining vital nutrients.
Interactive design students Sarah Mautsch and Aaron Abentheuer have created a prototype solution called The Cultivator, which creates a substance containing necessary nutrients based on user's dietary needs.
Visitors to the installation at their university can input their desired nutrients, and the The Cultivator will produce a substance mimicking the desired flavors and nutrition.
The project is intended to raise awareness of environmental issues, while proposing possible solutions through simulation of the real thing.
