The Roskilde music festival in Zealand, Denmark plans to collect urine from its fair-goers that they will use to fertilize the barley that will in turn, produce beer for future festivals. The initiative is called "From piss to pilsner."

The festival will be outfitted with troughs that will collect the pee, and cardboard 'urine directors' will be available so women can participate too. “It’s about changing our approach to waste, from being a burden to being a valuable resource,” says Leif Nielsen from the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC).

“I think most people can see the reason and the fun behind making a personal contribution to beer brewing, and the fact that rock music is involved will help us get our message across.” Whether "most people" will knowingly buy piss beer is a topic for another day.
