Drone drops drugs into prison yard where inmates get caught fighting over them
A drone dropped a package of drugs into the prison yard at the Mansfield Correctional Institution in Ohio. Inmates struggled to take hold of the package and began fighting, prompting prison guards to use pepper spray to quell the brawl.
The package contained almost a quarter of an ounce of heroin, more than two ounces of weed, and more than five ounces of tobacco. According to the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, the package was intended for an inmate on the north recreation yard where it was dropped, but it was thrown over the fence to the south recreation yard. About 75 inmates in the north recreation yard and 130 in the south recreation yard were strip-searched, run through a cell sensor, and checked by a clinic. The nine people involved in the brawl were put in solitary confinement. No one was injured.
