In the US, divorce rates are lower than ever
Contrary to what we all thought, marriage is okay.
A new study in the New York Times reveals that divorce rates are way off from most people's assumption about rising trends. Since the 1970s, divorce has actually been declining; shockingly, 70 percent of marriages from the 1990s reached their 15th anniversary. So far, those married in the aughts are going even stronger.
People are waiting longer and marrying for the right reasons. Both sexes are working. The celebrities are divorcing because they're celebrities.
The Times does add that fewer people are getting married at all, and more children are being raised by single parents now than ever.
Still, less divorce!
