How much money did the world spend on GTA V so far?
The world spent
on Grand Theft Auto V
since its release
According to Take-Two Interactive Software’s latest financial report which covered last quarter that ended on March 31, 2015, Grand Theft Auto V has made “nearly” 52 million copies since its release in 2013. Even more staggering to consider is that since it’s last report in early February the game has sold 7 million copies, 5 million of which have been sold in the UK alone.
Calculating at $39.99 a piece, the total cost spent on GTA V is $2,079,480,000 dollars, which is bananas. Then again, if we calculated using the release date price at $60-$70 per copy (keeping in mind special editions sold for $120-$150 and in-game money that can be purchased with real dollars increases the figure, while promotions and used sales drag that figure lower), humanity's collective amount of money spent on GTA V could be as high as $3,120,000.
GTA V cost had the biggest video game development and marketing budget on record: $265,000,000. It is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC from Rockstar Games.
