Watch Sepp Blatter flip flop over the last five days
Sepp Blatter, now the former president of FIFA, just stepped down from his position. Frankly, this seems remarkable considering what he told Swiss TV on Friday.
Why would I step down? That would mean I recognise that I did wrong.”
All things considered, looks like Blatter might've had a change of heart. Blatter's resignation could be seen as a tactical move, considering that he was facing furious FIFA sponsors, threats from the US Justice Department, and possible arrest by Swiss authorities regarding his involvement with the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in Russia and Qatar. Had he resigned prior to the election, his challenger Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan would have taken the reigns. As it stands, with FIFA's slow-moving electoral process, Blatter will most likely run day-to-day operations until Christmas.
However, this hasn't stopped Twitter from celebrating.
