Univision drops Miss Universe after Trump calls Mexicans "rapists", Trump blames Mexican government
Univision, the largest U.S. Spanish-language broadcaster, canceled its telecast of the Miss USA pageant after Donald Trump ridiculed Mexican immigrants during his presidential campaign announcement speech. The Miss Universe organization is partly owned by Trump. During Trump's announcement speech, he blamed "rapist" Mexicans for bringing drugs and crime into the U.S.:
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
Despite Univision clearly stating that the reason for its decision was "based on his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants," Trump believes the cancellation was an effort by the Mexican government to punish him for exposing the truth about Mexico's political relationship with the U.S:
Mexican gov doesn't want me talking about terrible border situation & horrible trade deals. Forcing Univision to get me to stop- no way!

Univision wants to back out of signed @MissUniverse contract because I exposed the terrible trade deals that the U.S. makes with Mexico.

I love Mexico but not the unfair trade deals that the US so stupidly makes with them. Really bad for US jobs, only good for Mexico.

Trump plans to sue Univision for defamation and breach of contract. He claims that Univisoin had no right to terminate the $13.5 million contract.
